Member for Whitsunday, Jan Jarratt is urging local tourism operators to nominate for the 2010 Queensland Tourism Awards.
Minister for Tourism, Peter Lawlor said Queensland tourism operators were among the best in the world and should seek acknowledgement for their outstanding tours, products and services.
"Last year there were 216 nominations in the 29 categories and I encourage all tourism operators and businesses thinking of nominating to throw their hats into the ring," Mr Lawlor said.
"You don't have to be a large, well-established operator to win - many small businesses take out awards because of their dedication, service and innovation,” the Member for Whitsunday said.
"Entering gives operators the opportunity to raise the profile and reputation of their businesses and winners will automatically go through to the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
"All types of tourism businesses should consider entering - from events and festivals to accommodation providers, tour operators, service p roviders, wineries, attractions and those involved in heritage, cultural, sustainable and Indigenous tourism."
Nominations are now open and will close on 21 May.
The awards ceremony will be held in November with further details to be announced.
Anyone interested in nominating should go to www.queenslandtourismawards.com.au.
