Member for Whitsunday Jan Jarratt is continuing her push for an extra $3 million in Government funding to upgrade the Whitsunday Coast Airport.
Ms Jarratt said the extra funding, on top of the $4 million committed last election, would mean a bigger redevelopment to provide more facilities.
“The design work for the upgrade airport is now almost complete – with additional funding we could see a much better redevelopment that will mean more facilities for travelers,” Ms Jarratt said.
“If we can secure more funding, then we’ll have an airport that not only looks great, but functions really well.
“First impressions are important and I believe that if we find additional funding we will see dividends over coming years.
“At the end of the day, this is about providing a level of service that will attract more people to visit the Whitsundays.”
Ms Jarratt said she used last week’s Parliament sitting to further lobby the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning and the Treasurer.
“It is by no means a sure thing but I have done my best to try and convince both of them the merits of the case.”
