A Proserpine school will share in more than $50 million in Bligh Government funding to improve and expand facilities. Member for Whitsunday, Jan Jarratt said St Catherine’s School will receive more than $1.2 million under the Bligh Government’s capital assistance program for non-state schools.
“The Bligh Government is committed to investing in all schools to help them provide high-quality, modern facilities that meet the needs of students,” Ms Jarratt said. “The funding will allow for building six classrooms, administration facilities, pedestrian walkways, student amenities, physical education store room, car set down area, and footpaths as well as covering water and sewerage headworks charges. “Capital assistance funding will enable this school community to get these much-needed projects off the ground.” Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson said the Bligh Government recognised the importance of all schools in their local communities. “It’s about giving parents a choice. As a Government we support giving parents options when it comes to their child’s education,” he said. “Parents can be assured these grants will help schools and their staff to continue to deliver a high standard of education for their children. “The projects at the 95 schools throughout Queensland will create more than 370 jobs across the state.” Media contact: Jan Jarratt 4945 3343 whitsunday@parliament.qld.gov.au
