Sport and Recreation Groups

The following groups are involved in various sporting and recreational activities and welcome volunteers willing to assist with events or ongoing activities.

All information and contact details included below has been provided by the groups themselves. Further details or requirements (eg. Blue Card, etc) may be required for specific roles and should be checked with the contact person listed below.

Sunset Bay Outrigger Canoe Club Sunset bay Outrigger Canoe Club Inc is located at Eimeo Beach and is a sport that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The sport is ocean based and the group is seeking volunteers who may have a boat licence for the support boats at a race regatta which is held once a year. If you are available between 6am and 4pm one day a year, and have a boat licence, please contact the club.

Northern Beaches Bowls Club The Bowls Club caters to both senior and junior members. They are seeking volunteers willing to assist in the coaching of school students and social groups in the rules and skills of the game.

Proserpine Citizens Band Inc. The Band provides opportunities for adults and children to participate in the study of, and presentation of instrumental music. Volunteers are invited to assist with fundraising activities and/or assist with the organisaiton and running of band functions. The Band will be celebrating their 100 year anniversary next year. Proserpine Ladies Bowling Club The Club provides a range of opportunities for members and volunteers to engage in lawn bowls, including coaching of local school students. Volunteers are welcome to assist with co-ordination of upcoming carnivals, catering, maintenance of facilities. Willing coaches are also welcome to assist with School Sport each week. Whitsunday Athletics Club Inc. The Club provides opportunities for local athletes (mostly junior) to participate and compete in organised events. The Club would love more people to offer their services as athletic coaches, and may be able to offer professional development to willing volunteers. Whitsunday Dirt Riders Club A family club which offers a safe and manged facility for children and adults to enjoy dirtbike riding. Whitsunday Game Fish Club The Club engages in both competitive and social Game & Sport Fishing. Volunteers are sought to assist the committee with the organisation of competition weekends, longer-term fishing trips, and other upcoming social events. Lee Findlay - Secretary

Whitsunday Sailing Club The Club organises off-shore and off-beach racing, tuition and training. The club also hosts the local branch of the Navy Cadets. Volunteers are sought to assist with working bees, and throughout Airlie Beach Race Week providing on-water support, or on-shore asssistance in the competitor's tent. Kaye Williams - Secretary

Proserpine/Whitsunday Junior Rugby League Football Club Inc Proserpine/Whitsunday Junior Rugby League Football Club Inc is home of the Proserpine Junior Brahmans who compete in the Mackay and District Rugby League competition. Their home ground is located at the Proserpine Junior Sporting Complex on the corner of Crystalbrook Road and Kelsey Creek Road.

Whitsunday Coast Scout Group Whitsunday Coast Scout Group are looking for volunteers to help their young members with community assistance, camps and hides and fundraising activities. The group requires leaders who have skills to work with children and, best of all, training is provided.
